Christian music lyrics make wonderful daily devotions!

Studying christian music lyrics and using them for my daily devotions helps me enjoy my devotions more, remember my devotions longer and every time I hear a song again it implants the truths I’ve learned deeper in my spirit.

Do you get frustrated by daily devotional reading because you read something in the morning but by noon you’ve forgotten what you read? Would you like to have a reminder throughout your day, and even weeks or months later, of the truths you found in your devotional time?

Some of the best devotions I’ve ever had
were from Christian music lyrics.

Whatever style of christian music you like to listen to, from old hymn lyrics to Praise and worship lyrics to contemporary christian lyrics, Christian music artists from all these styles write powerful themes we can meditate or reflect on to deepen our walk with God.

Music effects us all in deep ways. I can be having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day but When I turn on christian music I just melt into God’s arms. Merriam-Webster defines “devotional” as “a short worship service”. When I listen to the lyrics of good christian music I feel the love of God in a powerful way as I minister to the heart of God in worship and He ministers to me.

Everyone occasionally gets a song stuck in their heads. Lately I’ve been playing the MercyMe song “Word of God, Speak” over and over in my head, especially the lyrics:

To be still and know
That You’re in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak

I hate getting worthless or meaningless songs stuck in my head because that does me no good. But to get a good christian song stuck in my head can be a real blessing because it helps me come closer to God and enjoy His presence throughout my day. Using Christian music lyrics for my daily devotions helps me get those good messages stuck in my head and implant their truths deep in my spirit.

In 1704 the Scottish Patriot Andrew Fletcher said “You write the laws, let me write the music, and I will rule your country.”

Mr. Fletcher recognized the power of music and music lyrics for good or for evil. Music can change our mood and effect our behavior faster than almost anything else. Listening to music over and over can even change our beliefs about ourselves and God and the world around us. I’d like to use the power of music and christian music lyrics to help you deepen your walk with God, to experience God more fully than you ever have and love Him more deeply.

I hope you enjoy the lyrics and devotionals you find on the pages of this website. I pray that they will truly deepen your walk with God and strengthen your spirit in His Spirit.
